Democrazia e consultazione on line. Nuova edizione rivista e aggiornata
2023
Visions and Forms of Democratic Participation in Italian Universities after 1968
2022
The essay focuses on the ideological aspects and organizational dynamics underlying the 1968 protests in Italian universities. It analyses the inter-generational confrontation within the parties and in the wider public sphere in order to explain the new assembly-based organization in the Italian university. Young people in many countries demanded new spaces for a more direct political action; in Italy this would foster a change in the university representatives and parliamentary bodies which had so far mediated student participation. The UNURI (Italian University’s National Representative Union), founded in 1948, would suffer a crisis in 1968 precisely on the thrust of requests from youth i…
Collective participation for the sustainable redevelopment of degraded environments and urban public space
2022
The use of participatory processes as useful tools for the regeneration of the built environment is urgently topical, also in view of the inclusive forms of decision-making that have been introduced for years by ministerial and European standards. The research is part of a well-structured cultural and regulatory context characterised by new and interesting experiments in the field. Studying the participatory process as a useful strategy for conflict management and for the construction of new regenerative models in fact also implies a clarification of "what is meant by participation and the participatory project. At the same time, as widely testified to by the production of manuals in recent…
Older people’s participation in political organizations: The role of generativity and its impact on well-being
2017
Aging population has increased a global concern to keep seniors active and healthy. Civic participation, in particular, has been highlighted for its social and community benefits and its impact on elders’ health and well-being. To date, however, most studies have explored volunteering; other types of civic activities, such as political participation, are largely overlooked. This study analyzes the relationship between older people’s active involvement in political organizations, generativity, and hedonic and eudaimonic well-being. We selected two samples of Spanish older people: a sample of elders actively involved in political organizations (n = 97) and a comparison group (n = 85). Measure…

2016
The contribution deals briefly with two aspects: the political participation of migrants during the 2012 administrative elections in the Municipality of Palermo in terms of passive electorate and the functions…
Participatory tools and methods for community action. SESPAS Report 2018
2018
